Video Content Strategy Template to Plan Smarter Videos
Dec 23, 2025A clear video content strategy template removes uncertainty from video creation. Instead of recording what feels urgent, you start planning videos that align with real business needs. This shift alone changes how video performs over time.
Why Most Video Plans Fail
Many businesses focus on consistency without relevance. Without a video content strategy template, planning becomes reactive and scattered. The result is effort without leverage and videos that fail to support growth.
How a Video Content Strategy Template Creates Clarity
A structured video content strategy template gives you a menu of repeatable video types tied to outcomes. Monthly planning becomes simple, formats repeat, and decision fatigue disappears. This is where confidence and momentum build.
Planning Once, Repurposing Everywhere
When video planning is intentional, repurposing video content becomes effortless. One core video can fuel multiple touchpoints across platforms. The strategy works harder so you don’t have to.
Don’t plan your video around what you feel like saying. Plan it around what your business actually needs.
Video stops feeling random when planning becomes strategic. A video content strategy template turns effort into leverage and helps you plan smarter videos that actually move the business forward.

[00:00:00] Chris Schwager: This episode is about making smarter decisions about what video to record next, right? Not what you feel like recording. What actually helps you and your business move forward.
[00:00:15] Because the biggest mistake people make with video isn’t consistency, it’s relevance. So today we’re talking about how our video content strategy template helps you choose the right next video.
[00:00:23] Built on a repeatable plan, month by month, it helps you stop guessing what you should be saying on camera and start playing it out so you can see exactly what you’re doing next. Simple, useful, and strategic.
[00:00:30] Hi, I’m Chris Schwager, video coach and founder of the Complete Video Success System. I literally just came off the back of a Video Confidence Collective session this morning, and we were talking about strategy.
[00:00:46] Big 12-month, lock-it-in-stone strategies come up all the time. And one thing that kept coming up was this. The next video should be the one that solves the business challenge, not just scratches an itch because you feel like talking about something.
[00:01:00] It’s a big shift. When you start to understand the types of videos you can publish, suddenly you’ve got options.
[00:01:08] Educational videos. Visibility videos. Trust and authority videos. Team alignment. Lead warming. And there was one of our clients in Perth whose whole focus was just showing up more frequently.
[00:01:15] He wanted to increase trust so people saw him more often. It made it very easy for them to know who to talk to when the time was right.
[00:01:30] And that’s where a video content strategy template really helps. It maps everything out in front of you. It gives you a menu of different video types that align to business challenges.
[00:01:36] Instead of asking, “What do I feel like recording?”, you start asking, “What does my business need right now?”
[00:01:45] Here’s a real example. One of our clients in Melbourne produces what we call a market update or end-of-quarter wrap-up video.
[00:01:53] He can repeat that every quarter without thinking about it. Same format. Same purpose. New information.
[00:02:00] And that’s what makes a content plan far less stressful. You know that every quarter, that video is just going to be made. It doesn’t require a lot of creativity because the process is repeatable.
[00:02:11] It aligns perfectly with his culture. It’s informative. It’s educational. It keeps him visible one-to-many with his team and his audience.
[00:02:15] It’s great repeatable video. Stop creating and start documenting. A lot of these videos are already right in front of you.
[00:02:30] Be video-centric. Anything he does in business is likely to become a video. And if that’s the only video you do each quarter, maybe it’s not enough.
[00:02:45] Especially if you’re trying to broaden your reach. That’s where strategy comes in. You start to see the gaps. Three months between videos suddenly feels like a long time.
[00:03:00] Instead of constantly creating from scratch, you plan one core video each month and then you repurpose it.
[00:03:08] See how simple that is to get started?
[00:03:15] Now, the people who are really killing it have multiple videos going out every day. But they’ve also got a team to support that.
[00:03:17] When you’re just putting your strategy together, keep it simple. Keep it light.
[00:03:30] If all you do is put one next video into your strategy, that’s a start. You’re building rhythm with production at the same time as you’re building rhythm with planning.
[00:03:38] If you keep the clips short, it becomes far easier to produce and reuse the content.
[00:03:45] You end up with video assets aligned to specific questions, concerns, issues, and topics. And when the time is right, you can fire these off.
[00:03:57] So the plan isn’t just “What do I record now?” It’s “How far can this go once it’s recorded?”
[00:04:00] That’s what needs to live inside your video content strategy template.
[00:04:15] When you map it out in a simple spreadsheet or calendar, you can see everything at once. The frequency. The variety. The purpose.
[00:04:25] You’re not guessing anymore. You’re choosing.
[00:04:30] And that’s when video stops feeling random and starts feeling intentional.
[00:04:30] Our philosophy here is simple. Simplicity wins.
[00:04:30] The way you show up on video equals who shows up in your business.
[00:04:45] So here’s the key takeaway. Don’t plan your video around what you feel like saying.
[00:04:45] Plan it around what your business actually needs. One month at a time. Clear challenges. Repeatable formats.
[00:04:46] Use a video content strategy template to decide what to record, how to repurpose it, and how often to show up.
[00:05:00] If you need that content plan, DM me and I’ll fire it straight over to you. Less scrambling. More leverage.
[00:05:00] It’s my Christmas gift to you.
[00:05:00] Alright. That’s the strategy sorted. Now go hit record.
