When editing matters, and when it doesn’t
Which videos need editing, which don’t, and how the handover actually works once you have recorded.
Do you actually need editing?
Four questionsStart here. The cheapest edit is the one you never have to do, so the first question is whether this video needs editing at all.
Does every recorded video need editing?
No. Many videos can be recorded cleanly and sent straight to clients without editing. Editing is mainly for polishing, branding, or integrating additional assets. Editing is optional and only needed if you want refinements later.
What does the editing actually include?
Editing is used to polish videos, apply branding, integrate assets, and prepare content for publishing. Once the look and feel is established, the process becomes very fast and repeatable.
Can editing fix mistakes I make while speaking?
Yes. If a mistake happens, the recording continues. The speaker simply pauses and repeats from the previous sentence. These moments are easily cleaned up in the video editing using simple cuts or digital zooms.
Do I have to use your editing service?
No. Advice is provided on multiple editing options. The in-house service is offered for convenience and speed, but clients are free to use other solutions.
What editing costs and how it’s billed
Five questionsFive questions circle one thing a buyer needs settled before anything else: what this costs and what they are agreeing to.
Is video editing included in the package?
No. Video editing is not included and is offered as a separate subscription service.
How is video editing billed?
Editing is billed on an hourly basis. It starts at two hours to 32 hours per month, with most clients average around eight hours per month, though usage varies depending on content needs. Not all videos require editing.
What does eight hours of editing get me?
Multiple videos if you follow our process. Eight hours typically suits repeatable content with an approved structure, branding, and format. Once a style is locked in, videos can be turned around efficiently with minimal editing time.
How does your video editing subscription work?
A pilot concept video establishes branding, structure, and expectations. Once approved, future videos require minimal iteration, reducing cost and turnaround time. There is no lock-in contract, just month-to-month and can be paused or adjusted at any time.
Can I add editing after I’ve recorded?
Yes. Editing is offered as an add-on using offshore editors. The process starts with a pilot video to lock in style and expectations. Once approved, future videos are replicated efficiently without heavy revisions. Editing is purchased in hourly blocks.
Getting your recordings to the editor
Four questionsThe handover, end to end: where the file lives, what format it is, who moves it, and when it comes back.
How do I get my recording to the editor?
The recording is saved to a solid-state drive (via switcher recorder upgrade) or on your computer. At the end of the session, the files are uploaded or handed to the editor, who then downloads them and edits everything together.
What file format do I send the editor?
The video editor receives high-quality recordings as .mp4 files.
Can you upload my videos for me?
Yes. Once the Desktop Studio is established, the team can handle editing and uploading so you can simply approve and publish.
How fast do I get an edited video back?
For standard content like market updates, turnaround can be under 24 hours once the video workflow is established.
