By listening in each week you'll learn how each video marketing problem is solved, giving you the knowledge that will make your videos more valuable. And so you come across as a true business professional on the open market.

I'm your host, Chris Schwager, and today's Get Coached question was submitted at ridgefilms.com.au/question. And it's from Tony. And what Tony wants to know is, what are the video marketing mistakes to avoid? Love it.

I love answering these because there are loads of video marketing mistakes that you may come across. Okay, so Tony, what I want to do is to help you with this right now. Because if you're starting from nothing, it could be pretty daunting, because there's a lot of different things to consider. It's not just about being creative, and turning on the camera. There's lots of creative and technical variables that you need to factor in.

The messaging is one thing, the equipment is another thing, measuring the ROI is one thing filming, there are so many different things to consider. businesses who fail to clarify their message, for instance, also fail to bridge the gap of knowledge to be patient and to put in a process and enables the risk level to be reduced.

So what am I really talking about, I'm saying, Get some knowledge, man, get educated, slow down. If you want to be producing videos, and you want it to be consistent in need to deploy some, finding some learnings to be able to pass that down through your organization and make it part of your business. The future of businesses, as Gary Vaynerchuk would say is not about having the best product or service is about having the best media channel.

Yeah, it's a pretty out there statement. But it's pretty interesting to consider the way that people see you and interact with you in future will be very much weighed on your ability to come across in some kind of electronic humanized form like video to capture their attention. We know attention is scarce. And so now it's about producing content, to make it easier for people to consume you and to buy from you and to understand what your business is about.

So here are five video marketing mistakes to avoid. One producing only one video. It's really not going to do much. It's about creating a multitude of different videos so that you're here, there and everywhere. And you then are able to recycle, repurpose, reuse those videos, so that you're maximizing your opportunity and return on investment. Create once distribute to as many areas as you possibly can.

Two, producing long videos is a thing of the past. Now, there's lots of data around this saying, Oh yeah, long videos on YouTube and Facebook. Yeah, it all works, right. But in the world of video marketing, where attention is scarce, they just want to get what they need, and they need it in short, sharp consumable format. Now, why this is important is because it makes it easier to alleviate a specific concern or objection that somebody might have. So for example, producing a short 30s 60s 90s video that answers a specific query that somebody has about your product service or brand is a fantastic resource, when you can embed that in an email and fire it off to them so that they are fully aware and clear on what they're getting when they buy from you.

Number three obsessing over the fancy stuff. Now I love professional video content. And I think if you're going to do that, get a professional video marketing company to do the creative, to be creative. But I have a saying communication beats creativity every day of the week. It's all about how you're communicating and how that video is affecting your market. It's not about the razzle dazzle, yes, a story and something to capture it. tension is important in getting them to watch but don't let it interfere with the communication of your video. What are you trying to get them to do as a result of watching your video. And I think a lot of people who kind of went through the viral phase years ago, are probably even now still hung up on this concept of Oh, it's got to be viral otherwise nobody's gonna see it. Well, I don't think that's the right goal to have. I think you should be able to create something that will give you a good life span communicates clearly and manages those problems that you're facing in your business. You want it working for you every single day of the week, and you want to be confident that in three to five years time, the video is still good, it's still current, right? It still works. And that is a fantastic investment for you. Producing videos should be easy and tech and the creative variables Shouldn't be the barrier.

Step Four video not shared everywhere, you have to leverage the video and assume that nobody has seen and I've touched on this already. But make sure that you don't end up with just the USB stick with the video file on it, or the videos up on to your homepage of your website are Yes, it's great. It's on YouTube, I think that's awesome. But you need to look at all of the possibilities to get your video out there. And it doesn't just end with it being on your homepage, you need to integrate it into your sales and marketing activities in your team needs to understand where it exists, it needs to be on your email signatures, I mean, the potential for this video to get everywhere is endless. It's just that you may not know that yet. But with a bit of education, bit of knowledge. Keep listening to my podcast, because I'll be giving you more tips like this to help you understand where your video can go.

And five, not seeking help from a video marketing specialist early. If you're a first time video producer, I think this is fundamental. Get some help man, don't rely on your internal team to do this, okay. And I say this hand on heart because I've seen this I've been in the game a long time, the junior video guy that's got a laptop and a DSLR camera may not be the best person to take on the role of the video marketing specialist, nor will your part time marketing consultant.

You know, video marketing is a specialty area video marketing is within the greater function of marketing your business in the greater function of the business itself. So it's a tiny little element of marketing, but it is deep. And the more you get involved in video marketing, the more you realize how deep it can go. And there are so many opportunities to do some amazing things, but get the knowledge first and employ the expertise of a professional video marketer or marketing company.

So what are the results? If you get these things right? Well, quite frankly, you just get a better, smoother running process. Videos become faster, easier, and you can do more in volume. And as a result of that, more people will see you more people will do business with you, you increase your visibility, right you get known for having great kick ass content, right, which is going to perpetuate your visits, it's going to help you with your growth or whatever is your business challenge was in the first place.

You get to give people what they want. They make an easy decision about buying from you because you have a process of producing and delivering video so that it's humanized in your business and you're putting your face to your name and establishing strong relationships for the future.

If you want your production to be easy and your videos to work, then use these five strategies to help you on your way. Practice it and stick to them methodically and you can't go wrong and just before we wrap up this week if you want to learn how to convince decision makers in your organization, about video marketing and why they should invest in it then go to ridgefilms.com.au/boss and download our guide we're always helping the business community become better video marketers say go to ridgefilms.com.au/boss and download we'd love to help you convince them that video done right the first time is everything and Tony thank you so much for asking your question.
