By listening in each week you'll learn how each video marketing problem is solved, giving you the knowledge that will make your videos more valuable. And so you come across as a true business professional on the open market.

I'm your host, Chris Schwager.

Today's Get Coached question was submitted at ridgefilms.com.au/question, and is from Eunice, and what Eunice marketing manager from an accounting firm wants to know is should I invest for in-house video production or hire an agency?

And this is a good question because these days, video is critical in making your business function the way it's supposed to in today's market. But producing regular content takes money, it takes time it takes resources. And as an accounting firm, you'd be definitely be looking at each of those things in order to formulate your estimate for return on investment. So Eunice, let me explain the differences.

Firstly, between an in-house video team and a video agency. An in-house video production is when you purchase equipment and or a videographer or a marketing team to do the video production in your premises, right? This person or people are most likely full time they're producing videos for your accounting firm five days a week. So who are we really talking about? Well, it's a videographer. What is a videographer. If you look videographer up, you'll see that's usually somebody who's experienced in owning and operating equipment. And who can probably do some low level video production tasks for you. videographers aren't going to give you strategic advice.

They're not necessarily going to give you good strong communication, and I'm going to write scripts for you. Okay, so you've got to be very clear, a videographer is more likely to just be able to operate the camera and give you a great sound and great, a great look and very stylistic and all that. But it's very rare that you will find someone that is strategic and has good communication skills, to be able to assemble scripts and understand what videos go where as defined by a strategy that you might have, for instance, okay, unless you're following someone kick ass.

Video agency, on the other hand, is essentially outsourcing your video production needs to an agency or a video marketing company like Ridge Films, who will support your marketing efforts where needed train the organisation, produce quality content when it's needed, integrating into your marketing with really good, strong collateral that is going to live on in perpetuity for years to come. And again, also have capacity to do higher end stuff, they're going to be able to do more creative things, a whole bunch of options for you so that you can really get the maximum output.

What is the problem of a video agency? Well, they can be expensive, right? So depends. Also, an agency may be able to do video, but they may not be experts. If you're asking yourself which one should I choose, and have never produced a video for your business before you got to stop. You've got to stop now. Right? I think deciding whether you should go one or the other. It's too early. You've gotta get some knowledge first, understand the process, produce a video, go through it and understand what it's going to take. What how taxing is it on your business to produce videos, because there's a misnomer that it's somehow about this point and shoot or you know, film shoot and edit type of thing. And I think to produce really good quality videos that are going to work for your business and integrate into your sales and marketing activities really requires some strategic advice up front.

You got to get some knowledge about how video marketing works for your specific business so that you're not wasting any further time and jumping the gun in trying to choose which which one you should be going for knowing where to invest your resources and which approach whether it's in house or outsourcing is perhaps the second step in your journey.

Ridge Films have been helping clients for years, understand the basics, go through the process of creating a video first start with a strategy. And I'm not talking about some of your marketing team sitting around the table coming up with some creative ideas for videos. I'm talking about potentially dealing with someone outside of your organisation who can look at your business strategically and understand where they're gaps are in your sales, marketing internal comms to be able to then plug those holes with video.

And I gotta say, videographers will not be able to do that. However, video marketing companies and agencies will be able to help you through that process. Okay? So that's what you're hiring, in some respect, when you outsource to agencies is getting that level of expertise and understanding and you know, the follow through, that they're actually going to implement the project, deliver results and measure ROI.

And I think this is really important, you know, video, when people think that video, it's Oh, it's just all creative, isn't it? Did it work, we don't know, well, there is a way to measure and it should be a metric that particularly you as an accounting firm, should be looking at those numbers, investing in the strategy first, is going to be the key, the videographer is going to be a great solution. If you're a smaller size business, they're gonna have a small kit a small capacity to do regular videos, at any time you want expect the fact that you know, they're not going to necessarily give you all the information that you need to be able to integrate those correctly. The agency on the other hand, is going to be pretty comprehensive. Okay, a video marketing company or video agency is going to be really comprehensive about how they implement video, they're going to probably take a little bit longer, but be more diligent about the way that they execute video because they want to measure results, they want to show you that it's going to be working so they remain employed.

And they can justify the position that they're in to be able to deliver great output so that your company really does grow and does achieve the things that you're wanting to achieve.

Once you have a clear strategy moving forward, make sure you understand the numbers and I'm sure you will, what is the cost? What is the cost in money, time and resources to your business? The quality of the output will be directly related to the skill and the expertise of the team that you hire.

Okay, let me say that again, the quality the output will be directly related to the skill and expertise of the team that you hire, skill and expertise, okay? That's what you're buying. You should always feel supported in your endeavours to grow your business the way that you want, and the more knowledge you have around video, and the more knowledge your video team can bring, the greater the chance you'll win, the better advice they give you, the greater the chance you'll win. You'll want to be humanising your brand with the use of video, bridging the gap, using videos at every stage of the buyers journey, which is all great in building strong relationships, getting that trust factor that you need, and getting new revenues for your business.
